Budget Hero 2 Updated

WILSON & APM ADD POLICY OPTIONS TO BUDGET GAME AS DEBT CEILING BRINKSMANSHIP CONTINUTES
Game now includes policy proposals by Gang of 6 and Bowles-Simpson

WASHINGTON? At 100,000 hits since its re-launch a week ago, Budget Hero 2.0 is enabling an anxious public to grasp the magnitude of America?s debt problem and the impact of proposed solutions.

?Initial feedback is so positive,? said Jane Harman, President and CEO of the Wilson International Center for Scholars. ?This is what the Wilson Center does best: we bring the most important issues to public audiences in ways that are timely and extremely relevant.?

The game, developed by American Public Media?s Public Insight Network and the Wilson Center, makes it easy for people to compare their budget results to others and share them on Twitter and Facebook, as thousands of people have done.

Some key stats since the re-launch include:

  • 80% of plays have resulted in complete games
  • More than 7,400 people have shared demographics (gender, income, etc.)
    • The average age of players is 39 years old
    • The players are overwhelmingly male: 86% to 14%
    • 29% of players identify as Democrats
    • 29% Independent
    • 20% Republican
    • 11% Other
    • 9% Libertarian
    • 2% Green

Steps are underway to introduce Budget Hero 2.0 in school curricula this fall.
