Back to the Future Episode episode 5

What can I say that I haven't already said? The Back to the Future games look great, sound good, and the storylines are a lot of fun - in this final episode everything has to tie back together to get Doc, Marty and Edna back into their own time and put everything back to normal. Trouble is, one version of Doc isn't so keen on "normal", and Edna's behaviour is always a little tricky to deal with. Episode 5 is split into 3 distinct sections; the Hill Valley Expo, the Past, and Getting Back to the Future. Each are nicely enough done, there's very little challenge even with the hints off, in fact very few objects and puzzles to deal with overall. The humour is bang on some of the time though it doesn't always hit the mark, and predictably the ending sets up Season Two - though it does so in an amusing way, so I'm not really complaining about that.

Overall Back to the Future Season One is very much aimed at the casual gamer, and this has left a lot of adventure game fans feeling a bit miffed. However they're still fun in a short-lived way; adventure game fans like myself can look forward to more challenging episodes of both Sam and Max, and Tales of Monkey Island - at least I hope we can! I strongly suspect that when Jurassic Park Season One comes out, it's going to be very much in the mould of Back to the Future.  Can't really blame Telltale Games for trying to cover all bases, appealing to both casual and seasoned adventure game fans, but BttF is a somewhat weak entry in their adventure game catalogue.
