Snark Busters 2: All Revved Up Review

Snark Busters 2: All Revved Up casts you in the role of Jack Blair, a world champion ?Formula 0? racer, whose only regret is that he was never able to race his grandfather, also a champion racer, to see who was really the ultimate champ. Receiving a mysterious letter, ostensibly from his father, he decides to go off in search of the fabled Snark ? into a world of weirdness and the backwards mirror world.

All Revved Up is, like the first Snark Busters game, a mix of hidden object and puzzle game, with a little very basic adventure gaming thrown in for good measure. It works because the hidden object part is made less irritating by a quickly charging hint bar, a wide variety of puzzles along the way (most are easy, though there are a couple of more challenging ones), an amusing storyline, beautiful visuals and a superb soundtrack. (Even though I think at least a couple of tracks are borrowed from the first game, they?re so good that it barely matters.) The puzzles work slightly differently in the real world and the ?mirror? world, giving the game a little added zest. The plot bounces merrily along and some of the main characters? reactions are quite funny too.  There's a small tie-in with the first game, but playing that isn't necessary to understand what's going on in this one.

I have to admit that Snark Busters 2 is not a very challenging game (it?ll take you a handful of hours to complete), but it certainly is an enjoyable one. I?m not a fan of hidden object games myself, so the fact that the hints recharge quite quickly is a bonus for me. Even though I?d prefer a bit more challenge really this is very much a casual game and though that means you can play it for a few minutes here and there quite easily, it?s actually quite addictive ? you really want to find out what craziness happens next in the game. While I can?t be sure, I think it?s a bit longer than Snark Buster: Welcome to the Club was ? at any rate if you liked the first game, you?re definitely going to like this one too.

If you feel in the mood for a bit of undemanding puzzling, they don?t come much more entertaining than Snark Busters 2: All Revved Up.

You can buy Snark Busters: All Revved Up for $9.95, or download the playable demo, from Alawar Entertainment.
